Jackie
Selby was born to work in radio. The Scottsdale Arizona native's naturally
outgoing and friendly personality combined with her incessant yapping
about current events and boys proved to everyone within earshot exactly
how talented she was. Gently, her family steered her towards Northern
Arizona University where she worked at the campus radio station as
a punk rock diva. Eventually, after hundreds of Ramones records and
chugging contests she earned her BS degree in Communications with
an emphasis in Announcing and Performing.
Following
graduation Jackie easily landed a job in Phoenix where she spent the
next four years on the air at stations like the legendary Key 100.3,
98 KUPD, and Alternative KUKQ. Wanderlust is the better part of valor
when you're in radio, so the itch to move drove Jackie up to Las Vegas
for a gig at KEYV-FM, Las Vegas. Managers at The Key wisely put her
talents to good use as Music Director then Program Director and afternoon
drive personality. On the air in Vegas, Viva! After three years she
had gambled away her life's savings (about $250) and decided to accept
an even better position in Vail, Colorado with Radio One Network.
In Vail she skied enough to find a boyfriend while working as a Music
Director and afternoon talent for an alternative music network with
9 nationwide affiliates.
Eventually
suffering from altitude sickness, Jackie was forced back to relative
civilization in Denver where she went to work at the brand new KXPK
96.5 The Peak, Denver's Rock Alternative. Over the next 3 1/2 years
she was promoted from evening air talent to afternoons where she drove
the city of Denver home for 2 years. Then the ultimate job opened
up, mornings with her friend Chuck Woodford! After an overzealous
cost cutting manager fired Jackie, ratings at The Peak dropped, the
manager was fired, formats changed, and finally the station was sold
off to a company that promised to turn it into a Spanish language
station. Jackie won't take credit for the demise of The Peak (who
were at the top of their ratings while she was there) but her loyal
fans know better.
During
this period Jackie polished up her skills with work as a voice over
artist and narrator for ESPN's Chevy Truck Ski World, and the nationally
syndicated TV show The Year In Sports.
Jackie's
fans were delighted when she returned to the Denver airwaves as the
Midday Air Personality on KALC FM, Alice 106. Naturally at Alice her
show won high ratings as well as recognition from the Colorado Broadcasters
Association as 1999's Best Midday Radio Show. Jackie stayed with Alice
until 2002. Four years at one station in the same slot, say it isn't
so, Joe!
After
Alice she went to Kool to fool around with the Kool Morning Krew
for 3 years ( and torture JJ McKay and The Coach), then off to
Martini Radio for the last 2 years. Martini was in
bankrupcy, so Jackie split while the gettin' was good!
Now
Jackie's on KOSI midday’s
9 am – 2
pm.
While
on the air in Denver Jackie also did plenty of side work as a voice
over artist. As an Endorser and Narrator, her list of clients includes
Colorado Sports Show, Aveda, Purina One, KRMA Channel 6, Reflect.com,
The Shane Company, and Traco Windows. Reflect.com reports "a
surge in mascara sales shortly after her ads ran in the Denver market."
At Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, Jackie portrays Venus in the animated
light show presented in the casino, "I am Venus, goddess of love"
she can be heard repeating at nap time. At Across Media Network, she
is the voice behind real estate ads that reach more than 12 million
people everyday. (Now we're getting serious!)

Jackie
eventually married her ski-bum boyfriend, Dylan, who also found work

named Otis and a small house filled with the
latest high-tech toys. She enjoys hiking, bicycling, live concerts,
and incessant yapping about current events and boys.
